Waddell will deliver his popular lecture on the Early History of Nortli Carolina in this City on Wednesday evening next in aid of the Memphis sufferers. The subject is one of unusual interest to every North Carolinian, while the object must com mend itself to every heart not wholly bereft ol sympathy. Wherever Mr. W. has been introduced he -has been greeted by large and appreciative audianccs and as his visit to us is made in the interest of suffering humanity, we feel that it is unnecessary for us to say more than to bespeak tor him a warm reception and crowded house. Although there are conflicting rumors from Memphis ol an abatement of the fatal malady, yet we must remember that the awfnl results are now being seen among the thousands of widows and orphans who crowd the streets of that un happy city asking for bread, raiment and shel ter. C Many "vile, unwholesome potions. now being offered' for" sale' in various parts of the country as "tonics" and restora tives." are 'recommended by - their dishonest proprietors and venders as superior to the -fa mous national spec'ffc, Hostetters Stomach Bit. ters. Desperate attempts are made o thrust these pernicious compounds into the hands and down the throats of lifw-long patrons of the great vegetftWestimulaiitand stomachic; and although these conspiracies against health and.life very rarely succeed, it nevertheless seems to be a duty occasionally to warn the credulous against them. Hotetter s Bitters, the uneqnaled reme dy for casual indigestion, confirmed dyspepsia. biliousness, liver complaint, malarious fevers, constipation, constitutional weakness, aud the functional derangement of the weaker sex, has for twenty years stood at the head of all medi cines of its class so far above them as to render competition futile. Its Utility as a preventive of disorders engen dered by an insalubrious atmosphere or un wholesome water is admitted by physicians prae ticing in unhealtey districts, and it is ' reco tnended as a stimulant by many practitioners who will hot take the responsibility of prescrib ing the adulterated liquors of commerce. ! : Symptoms of Liver Complaint, and of some of the Diseases Produced by ' it.
